Who is it for?

Learners that wish to requalify their current in-date First Aid at Work certificate for a further 3 years. People who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation. Learners will be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider. This qualification allows successful candidates to be designated a qualified first aider.

  • The Role of the First Aider

  • Incident and Casualty Management

  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

  • Unconscious Casualty

  • Recovery Position

  • Management of a Seizure

  • Wounds, Bleeding and Shock

  • Choking

  • Minor Injuries (small cuts, grazes, scalds, splinters)

  • Asthma and Hyperventilation

  • Circulation System and Heart Attack

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Eye Injuries

  • Poisons

  • Burns and Scalds

  • Head Injuries

  • Fractures and Spinal Injuries

Assessment

  • x2 Question multiple choice theory test papers

  • Practical applications of a range of first aid techniques
